“Hi, I am Lavinia, I am a rheumatologist and a researcher and my PhD focuses on the transition from psoriasis to psoriatic arthritis” “Psoriatic What?” “Let’s go back to basics” “Mi presento questa è la mia psoriasi” (English translation – Hi, this is on my skin is my psoriasis) “Psoriasis is a heterogeneous disease affecting 2-3 % of the population, several line of therapies are available with great efficacy, however 30% of the patient, after 7-10 years develop psoriatic arthritis” “Artrite psoriasica, e queste sono le mie mani” (English translation – Psoriatic arthritis and these are my hands) “Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic disease characterized by hands or digit swelling which causes pain and functional impairment” “Dottoressa io sono a rischio di sviluppare l’artrite psoriasica? Non ci potete far qualcosa per fermarla?” (English translation – “Doc, am I at risk of developing psoriatic arthritis? Can’t you stop it?) “Those are the questions my PhD is trying to answer, looking deeper into the inflamed cells of the skin and the synovial tissue of the joint, to understand how they talk to each to stop the process before the progression” “I love Glasgow”
